This masterclass will help you learn more about the language of Jazz, Soul, Gospel, and R&B. Tacoma Refugee Choir Artistic Director and Seattle-based musician Orlando Morales will go over a short history of Jazz, Soul, Gospel and R&B and then break down some of the key features of those styles. Morales will focus on the musical language used in each genre to communicate rhythm, chords, and melodic style. This masterclass will improve your ability to communicate and collaborate with other musicians.
Orlando is a Seattle-based musician, educator, and songwriter. He currently serves as Artistic Director for Tacoma Refugee Choir and holds a Masters in Teaching from the University of Washington.
